Description & Details: We are currently seeking applicants for a Statistician position at the Soranzo group (https://www.sanger.ac.uk/research/faculty/nsoranzo/) at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute (WTSI located on the Wellcome Trust Genome Campus near Cambridge in the UK. The post will suit an ambitious and talented statistician, who is interested in applying their skills in the genetics/genomics field. The successful candidate will be involved in statistical analyses combining genetic array and next-gen sequencing data with hematological indices, iron biomarkers and other cardiovascular outcomes and risk factors, including ‘multi-omics’ (eg metabolomics, lipidomics, proteomics) data, assayed in the 50,000 person INTERVAL Study. The aims of this work are to identify causal variants and novel biological pathways influencing blood cell formation, donation outcomes, and donor health, and ultimately to translate findings into clinical practice. Major emphasis will be placed on leading original analyses and manuscripts, career development and transition toward an independent research career. The successful candidate will be expected to produce high-impact first author publications. |
