Description & Details: Within the program Water Nexus the primary task of the post-doc will be to integrate the results of several PhD’s into various applications or business cases. The PhD’s (in total 15) of Water Nexus focus on developing technology and infrastructure for a sustainable fresh water supply for industrial areas within saline (delta) circumstances and consequently deal with salt water as a production factor instead of a threat. The business cases are characterised as ‘reality blue prints’, indicating that single technology development is not the solution, but rather the integration of technology within a system based approach accompanied by institutional and governance change. Main task for the post doc will to facilitate the system integration of the technology developed and find connections to other programs dealing with governance aspects targeted at developing follow up or adjacent projects. The business cases may be described roughly as 1) Green infrastructure based self-sufficient water supply for chemical complexes in salt water environments, with seasonal fresh water availability; 2) Economizing salt water from oil, gas, using green infrastructure for treatment of water combined with non-food biobased biomass production and improved value chains and 3) green infrastructure, for circular and multi-sourcing based water supply in climate adaptive and resource efficient urban water systems. The results of the project will be incorporated within the curriculum of the ETE group, in which the post doc plays a major role. Furthermore we expect that the post-doc will contribute to the scientific output of the team, by own and co-publications based on the results of the project. Next to the scientific work, the post doc will contribute to teaching and supervising Master and Bachelor Students of the ETE group. View More Details
