Description & Details: The Department of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment (http://www.slu.se/en/departments/aquatic-sciences-assessment) is a competence center for applied environmental science with a national responsibility for monitoring of the environmental status in Swedish lakes and streams. The department is part of a Soil-Water-Environment cluster and has approx. 110 employees among which approximately half are researchers/PhD students and half are technical staff. The research focuses on geochemical and hydrological processes, aquatic ecology and biodiversity, as well as on aquatic ecotoxicology and environmental chemistry. The department is situated on SLU:s Uppsala Campus in the town of Uppsala (some 150,000 inhabitants), 35 km north of Stockholm Arlanda international airport.
