Description & Details: Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) to work in the Reisner group in the Department of Chemistry of the University of Cambridge. The project is part of an European Research Council (ERC) funded project on semi-artificial photosynthesis. A significant part of the project aims to understand how redox enzymes interact with conducting/semi-conductor surfaces to result in better ‘wiring’ and communication. We wish to use biophysical techniques to understand the protein-surface interface and ultimately integrate this with protein-film photoelectrochemistry. Applicants should have (or be about to obtain) a PhD in Biophysics, Biochemistry or a closely related discipline (e.g. Physics or Chemistry). A strong background in method development and single molecule approaches to probe protein function is desired. You should also have experience of handling biological samples, together with the ability to work both independently and also as part of a larger interdisciplinary team. Candidates are encouraged to think outside of her/his formal field of training to fit in to a creative, collaborative and dynamic research environment. A strong record of research productivity, as reflected in a substantial publication record in journals of high impact as well as excellent communication, management and English writing skills will be required. The successful candidate will also be expected to guide undergraduate and postgraduate students. |
