Description & Details:  A postdoc position is available at DTU Food in the Research Group of Genomic Epidemiology. The activities in the group include many aspects of zoonotic risks, including development and implementation of genomic sequencing, bioinformatics and epidemiological modeling of the occurrence of zoonotic microbiological hazards both at a national and global perspective.

The postdoc position is available from 1 November 2016 with duration of one year with opportunities to extension. The position is affiliated with an initiative funded by the Ministry of Food Agriculture and Fisheries with the overall aim to establish the scientific basis for predicting the effect of interventions of antimicrobial usage in pig herds on the occurrence of resistance in zoonotic pathogens.

Responsibilities and tasks
The postdoc will participate in a project aiming to develop a mathematical model that predicts how the usage of antimicrobial in pig herds influence the occurrence of zoonotic antimicrobial resistant organisms, and estimates the expected effect of selected intervention strategies. The model will apply data from various sources including observational studies and genomic sequence analyses also conducted as part of the overall initiative. An important part of the postdoc project is to integrate different format of epidemiological evidence (e.g. odds ratios, expert knowledge, semi-quantitative measures) and uncertainties in the evidence in a quantitative model.

Qualifications
The candidates must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent), and must have a solid background in veterinary epidemiology and experience in mathematical modeling.
