Education Requirement PhD  Inorganic or physical chemistry or related areas
Country Sweden

Description & Details:  We are looking for a committed postdoc to take a central role in a research program aiming to increase the knowledge about the chemical reactions taking place in the interface water-air, an area of large importance for atmospheric chemistry, climatology and surface water chemistry.

You will join Ingmar Persson’s research group (https://www.slu.se/en/cv/ingmar-persson) and will work in a multidisciplinary team of scientists from the Department of Chemistry and Biotechnology, SLU, Uppsala, and the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Uppsala University (http://katalog.uu.se/empinfo/?id=N96-732). A significant part of the experimental work will take place at synchrotron radiation facilities, especially MAX IV in Lund, Sweden, which will result in shorter business trips to e.g. Lund.

Duties: You will perform physico-chemical studies of aqueous solutions to study how reactions in the interface water-air affects the composition of the aqueous solution, and X-ray spectroscopic studies, especially XPS (X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy) of aqueous micro-jets to determine speciation and possible surface propensity of chemical compounds in the aqueous surface.

Qualifications: Applicants should at the time of application have been awarded a PhD degree in inorganic or physical chemistry or experimental physics. Ideally, the applicant will have documented experience in work with physico-chemical characterisation of solutions, in work at synchrotron radiation facilities and X-ray spectroscopic methods. The applicant shall have good communication skills and proven skills in both oral and written scientific English. We put great emphasis on personal characteristics of the successful applicant.
