A 3-year position as a postdoc in membrane protein studies is available from November 2016, or as soon as possible after, in the lab of Hanne Poulsen located at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Aarhus University (Campus Aarhus). The project is part of the Danish node for neuroscience of the Nordic-EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine (DANDRITE).
The project will be focused on studies of electrogenic membrane proteins, ion channels and pumps, using molecular biology in general and electrophysiology in particular, including two-electrode voltage clamping and voltage-clamp fluorometry with a cut-open system. The candidate must present a significant experience in membrane protein studies and preferably electrophysiology. The position will also involve teamwork with other postdocs and PhD and MSc students in our studies of structure-function relationships and molecular mechanisms.
Qualifications and Specific Competences
• Ph.D. degree in molecular biology or related field
• Experience in electrophysiological measurements
• Neuroscience interest and curiosity
• Ability to analyze membrane protein structure-function relationships and strong skills in experimental design
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work independently and to collaborate with local and external research partners
