Description & Details: The Research Group of Professor WSR Martin R. Larsen at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Southern Denmark (SDU), is looking for a highly talented, creative and motivated postdoctoral fellow to join our team of talented students and postdocs, specifically aiming at developing quantitative proteomics and phosphoproteomic technologies for characterizing signalling mechanisms that regulate mucosal adaptive immune responses in homeostasis and inflammation, with a primary focus on the gastrointestinal tract. The candidate will be an integrated part of a large research project termed ”Regional immune-modulation of mucosal inflammation (RIMMI)”, which include researchers from the Danish Technical University, Herlev Hospital, Lund University and University of Southern Denmark.

The successful candidate will be developing liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometric methods for quantitative assessment of proteins and phosphorylated peptides obtained from very small amounts of cells, i.e. immune cells sorted by FACS instruments. In addition, the candidate will have a biological subproject within the large RIMMI project and assist researchers from the other groups in the project with proteomics and phosphoproteomics.

The Larsen research group is located within the world-recognized Protein Research Group at SDU and the environment has a strong and internationally recognized research tradition. The Larsen group has developed a large number of methods for assessment of post-translational modification (PTMs) in proteomics and the research focus is the role of PTMs in system biology.

Qualifications
A successful candidate would have a PhD degree in biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology or a related field and is highly motivated and innovative. A candidate with significant experience in functional proteomics, PTM analysis (especially phosphoproteomics), LC-based mass spectrometry and bioinformatics is preferable. However, knowledge in immune cell biology and signalling is a significant merit. Excellent communication skills and an ability to interact socially and scientifically with other laboratory members and collaborators are essential. Previous postdoc experience and a strong publication record are also strong merits.

The position is limited to two years’ duration. Expected starting date: 1 August 2016. Deadline for application 1 June 2016.
