Applications are invited for a post-doctoral position in bacterial virulence factor biosynthesis in the laboratory of Dr. Helge Dorfmueller. The focus of the work is on the enzymes responsible for the synthesis of the bacterial streptococcal surface carbohydrate and its role in the virulence (see van der Beek et al., (2015) Mol Micro, in press, van Sorge et al., (2014) Cell Host & Microbe, 15, 729-740). This position, which is funded by the Wellcome Trust, is available from April 2016 for a period of 12 months, with the possibility of further extension.
The Dorfmueller lab is based in the Division of Molecular Microbiology, within the School of Life Sciences at the University of Dundee. The Division of Molecular Microbiology is a dynamic and friendly work environment and the School of Life Sciences is recognised as a top UK and international centre for research in the Life Sciences. The successful candidates will be encouraged to demonstrate independence and innovative thinking whilst being an integral part of the lab team, and will have the opportunity to learn new techniques and approaches within our lab and those of collaborators.
