Description & Details: Applications are invited for three post-doctoral positions in the lab of Professor Tracy Palmer to study the Staphylococcus aureus Type VII/Ess secretion system and its secreted effector proteins. We are interested in the role and mechanism of this important secretion system and in elucidating the mode of action and biological significance of newly-identified effector proteins. We are looking for highly motivated individuals ready to contribute to an ambitious and multidisciplinary project studying mode of action, secretion and biological impacts of diverse Type VII-secreted effector proteins. This Wellcome Trust funded project is expected to start in July 2016 and the positions are available for three years, with the possibility of extension for a further two years.

The Palmer lab is based in the Division of Molecular Microbiology, within the School of Life Sciences at the University of Dundee. The Division of Molecular Microbiology is a dynamic and friendly work environment and the School of Life Sciences is recognised as a top UK and international centre for research in the Life Sciences. The successful candidates will be encouraged to demonstrate independence and innovative thinking whilst being an integral part of the lab team, and will have the opportunity to learn new techniques and approaches within our lab and those of collaborators.
