Description & Details: SUMMARY OF RESEARCH: This research project is part of a larger initiative to fast-track the introgression of aphanomyces resistance into adapted pea germplasm developed at the Crop Development Centre TERM: This is a 3-year appointment as a postdoctoral fellow. JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES: The successful candidate will be responsible for validating markers associated with resistance QTLs that have been developed elsewhere, will be involved in an intensive backcrossing program, develop efficient and reliable protocols for the molecular screening of backcross populations, coordinate and guide pathogenicity testing to complement molecular screening, and potential evaluation of advanced backcrosses in agronomic trials. The successful candidate will also be expected to collate, organize, systematically store and analyse data, prepare reports and eventually draft scientific manuscripts. |
