Description & Details:  Applications are invited for a 2-year postdoc position at the Department of Chemistry, Aarhus University (AU), Denmark (www.chem.au.dk). The intended starting date for the position is January 1st 2017.

The position is in the Biomodelling group (see http://chem.au.dk/en/research/research-areas/theoreticalchemistry/biomodelling) as part of a project “Saccharification of Lignocellulosic biomass, can Super-thermostable “Enzyme Biofluid” be a new pathway?“. The concept of enzyme biofluids is emerging these years as a way to improve enzyme stability at elevated temperatures. Using simulations, this project aims at predicting how to design a cellulase decorated with an ionic liquid “corona” that retains enzymatic activity towards cellulose. The project is in close collaboration with research groups from the Department of Engineering at AU.

Strong computational skills are required from the candidate, specifically the following must be met:
• A PhD in computational chemistry/biochemistry/molecular biology is required
• Some years’ prior postdoc experience is desirable
• The candidate is required to have expertise in protein modelling
• Extensive experience with MD simulations of biological systems (enzymes) is required, including both atomistic and coarse-grained methods
• Experience with HPC is essential and should be described
• Use of PRACE computers is desired, as is experience in applying for PRACE access
• An excellent publication record is expected.
