Description & Details:  A post-doctoral position is available starting May 1st 2016 or ASAP thereafter in the group of Associate Professor Lene N. Nejsum, Department of Clinical Medicine, Health, Aarhus University, Denmark. The focus of the research group is epithelial cell biology with special focus on plasma membrane transport proteins and regulation of body water balance.

We are seeking a highly motivated, independent and talented post doc with solid, hands-on experience in super resolution imaging and image analysis of super resolution data, to study the plasma membrane nanoorganization of the renal water channel aquaporin-2 (AQP2).

AQP2 is central for urine concentration. Dysregulation of AQP2 expression and/or targeting to the plasma membrane, as well as genetic mutations in AQP2 and the vasopressin receptor, are key in many water balance disorders. A key regulatory mechanism occurs in the actual plasma membrane via regulation of AQP2 endocytosis rates to either stabilize or exclude AQP2 from the membrane. These events are regulated via direct modifications of AQP2.

We offer a friendly, interdisciplinary, collaborative and fun work environment.

Applicants must have a PhD in molecular biology, cell biology, biophysics or equivalent. Solid, hands-on experience in super resolution imaging and image analysis of super resolution data is essential. Further inquiries should be emailed to associate professor Lene N. Nejsum (nejsum@clin.au.dk).

The position is initially for one year with the possibility to extend for an additional year.
