Position Summary:
Berkeley Lab’s Molecular Foundry Division has an opening for a Biophysicist Postdoctoral Fellow. You will fabricate and characterize living functional hybrid materials that respond to environmental cues and transition from being porous and flexible to impermeable and tough. You will be part of a collaborative team consisting of researchers in the Molecular Foundry, Biophysical Sciences division, and UC Berkeley Engineering and funded by DARPA. The researcher will devote equal effort to the synthesis of the material using protein engineering and synthetic biology and characterization with various microscopy and mechanical testing tools. Responsibilities will include designing and executing experiments, data analysis and visualization, and guiding graduate and undergraduate researchers.
